How to Sell with Us

Do you want to showcase your art to a wider audience and earn 100% of your asking price? At The Art Exchange, we connect emerging artists with local buyers who appreciate original, one-of-a-kind works. We take care of the marketing and sales process, allowing you to focus on creating while we handle the rest. It’s completely free, simple, and designed to bring your artwork to a broader, local audience.

We are always looking for new pieces to add to our collection! To start the process, please see the steps below.

Steps to Get Started

Let us know you’re interested by sending us some basic info like your name, digits, and your email.

We Will Contact You

Once we have your info we’ll email you with a file request link where you can upload your artwork.

Submit Images of your Artwork

Each artwork should be accompanied by at least three high-resolution images (300 pixels per inch) with a white background. Along with the images, provide information including the title, dimensions, medium, a brief description that highlights the inspiration and theme of your work, and of course—the desired price for each piece. The file submission prompts you to include this information, if unable, an email is also acceptable.

Review and Sign the Agreement

Each artist will need to read and sign the Exhibition/Independent Contractor Agreement which outlines the rights, responsibilities, and expectations of both parties. An IRS W-9 form must also be filled out (if you make over $600 at The Art Exchange annually) and signed for tax purposes. Copies of these files can be downloaded (see below) or provided via email.

Selling Your Artwork

Once your artwork is listed on our website, we will actively promote and market your work to attract potential buyers. To sustain our operations and continue supporting artists like you, our online gallery applies a buyer’s commission of the greater of $40 or 20% of the selling price to each piece. This commission, along with sales tax and any applicable shipping and handling fees, will be added to your desired fee to determine the final selling price. This ensures that you as the artist will earn 100% of the profit you deserve for your work.

Payment and Delivery

Upon the sale of an artwork, you will receive an email notification from theartexchange@outlook.com. We will coordinate with you to schedule a convenient pickup time. We will handle everything related to the transportation of the artwork to the buyer, ensuring it is safely delivered. Payment for sold artworks will be remitted to you within 14 days following the sale, using a mutually agreed upon method preferably Venmo or cash.
